When Macmillan was in power，Cyprus，a crown colony from 1925，became a burden,to a degree，of British Government． For a long time，the Greek Cypriots claimed Cyprus to be annexed into Greece，i．e．the Enosis movement，sub-sequently there was an increasingly serious conflict between the Greek Cypriots community，the Turkish Cypriots community and British colonial authority．Owing to respectively interventions of the Greek Government and Turkish Government，the Cyprus problem was thus complicated and internationalized． Harold Macmillan，on account of realities，continuously revised the policy in Cyprus． Eventually，Cyprus was agreed to be independent if Britain’s military bases would be under British sover-eignty．Thereby，Britain get herself out of the trouble of Cyprus，and the peace occurred inside island，though very shortly．
